Major group-wide agreement allows banking giant to further streamline its customer communication
Stockholm, 11 december 2007, Swedish-founded IT company StreamServe and Handelsbanken have entered into an agreement that will allow the entire Handelsbanken group, with activities in large parts of Europe and 459 offices in Sweden alone, to invest in StreamServe Enterprise Document Presentment (EDP), which will help to streamline management of its customer communications. This agreement will be StreamServe’s largest in Scandinavia so far this year.
Handelsbanken chose StreamServe in order to be able to effectively create all communication, such as customer letters, account statements and invoices. For Handelsbanken, the relationship customers have with their local bank office is very important, and with StreamServe all administrators will gain simple, rapid access to the documents and information they require to provide good service.
Just like companies in several other industries, banks are facing the challenge of giving their customers personalized offers and tailored information. According to surveys, there is still a lot to be done in this area. Among other things, one survey shows that as many as 88 percent of all bank customers continuously receive service offers that are irrelevant to them. 71 percent also say that they often receive two or more letters from their bank on the same day.
“Virtually all banks have information on what is relevant for each customer in their IT systems,” says Christian Hadenius, Managing Director for StreamServe in the Nordics. “On the other hand, many use it poorly, not least because they believe that the technology constitutes a barrier. StreamServe solves this by consolidating information from systems that are isolated from one another, personalizing the presentation of information and making it possible for this to be used in different places at different times, both in business documents and for electronic channels.”
Through StreamServe, Handelsbanken will also introduce joint-enveloping of documents to be sent to one and the same recipient. This way, the recipient does not have to deal with several envelopes at the same time. In addition, this solution helps reduce the impact on the environment and results in postage savings for Handelsbanken.
In the long term, Handelsbanken’s StreamServe investment is part of the bank’s efforts to retain its position as the highest ranked bank in customer satisfaction surveys. Administrators should easily be able to create documents with attractive designs and tailored content – without being forced to call on expertise from the IT department. The customer should also be able to choose if he or she wants to receive the communication electronically via the Internet or as paper documents.
