AET Films is North America's leading developer and only independent global supplier dedicated solely to the manufacture of films for use in commercial packaging. The company's challenge was to increase margins and retain customers by providing outstanding service in the form of highly personalized communications.
The company, headquartered in New Castle, DE, is one of the largest North American manufacturers and sellers of oriented polypropylene (OPP) films, with annual sales exceeding $275 million dollars. The company's products are used by the world's preeminent food and beverage manufacturers.
"Only five to 10 percent of our business is still on patent so we are a quasi-commodity business," said Jim Burger, director of information systems at AET Films. "Anything we can do to differentiate ourselves is good. StreamServe Enterprise Document Presentment® (EDP) enables us to offer a higher level."
StreamServe EDP gives AET the flexibility to deal with converters large and small: "We ask our customers: How do you want to communicate; how do you want us to relate" And StreamServe supports that. We deal with very large multi-national businesses and we deal with mom-and-pop operations.
"One of the real value-adds StreamServe EDP provides us with is the ability to do custom labeling. With StreamServe EDP, we have the ability to quickly create and deploy a new label format for a single customer with any variety of bar codes. That's a unique capability in the marketplace and a real advantage for us."
Jim Burger, Director of Information Systems, AET Films

Bankgirocentralen (BGC) wanted to launch a new service to allow companies to send invoices straight to their customers’ internet banks, regardless of which bank, IT solution, platform or data format was involved.

Scandinavian company Buena Vista Home Entertainment AB, a subsidiary of the Disney Group, sells about 12 million DVDs per year, primarily to video stores and superstores. The company's challenge was to achieve efficient payment flows and reduce costs by automating and streamlining the invoicing process.
The Scandinavian company is the first subsidiary of the Disney Group to use the StreamServe Enterprise Document Presentment® (EDP) solution for efficient payment flows and flexible invoice management.
Buena Vista has about 10,000 customers in Scandinavia. All Disney films sold in Scandinavia - around 12 million DVDs per year - are handled by Buena Vista, which sells primarily to video stores and superstores.
Customer service inquiries spike when new titles are released, so it is imperative to achieve efficient payment flows when a high volume of invoices are being sent out, as problems can necessitate costly manual management.
"StreamServe provides amazingly easy management of invoices and credit invoices in SAP's business system. Support for OMR has radically reduced manual work associated with invoice management. We can't get support from our SAP system in such a flexible way.
"StreamServe EDP reduces costs by 40 per cent compared to the costs of producing invoices solely using our SAP business system. The more types of documents we have, the greater the savings. The investment has paid for itself many times over."
Robert Börlin, IT Manager, Buena Vista Home Entertainment

Copaco Netherlands B.V. is one of the largest distributors of information and communication technology products in the Netherlands. Their challenge was to connect Copaco Netherlands’ SAP environment to their customer’s ERP systems so they can implement a personalized, two-way electronic exchange of orders and invoices.
One of Europe’s leading information and communication technology distributors, the company needed to find a way to implement an automated method of dealing with incoming queries and orders if they wanted to stay ahead of the competition.
The traditional method of ordering products and requesting information by fax and telephone created a huge amount of work for Copaco Netherlands’ sales department, which had to input the information manually into SAP. It was slow and expensive, and inevitably errors occurred.
StreamServe processes Copaco Netherlands’ orders using XML, and checks the contents for consistency. The order is then forwarded to SAP. The customer receives a response message via StreamServe BCP with an order confirmation and delivery date, as well as an electronic shipping form upon delivery. Copaco Netherlands will also use StreamServe BCP to send electronic invoices in the near future.
“StreamServe BCP enables us to increase the speed of our internal processes considerably. Our customers can place orders that are entered straight into SAP via StreamServe BCP. They know exactly what we have in stock. We can guarantee absolute transparency of inventory, and that’s a big boost to the service we provide.”
Frank Lemmen, Head of e-business, Copaco Netherlands B.V.

EUROFACTOR is strengthening its European business by focusing on innovative, real-time services which offer easy online access for its customers. The StreamServe Enterprise Document Presentment solution has been a key part of that strategy by providing multi-channel and multilingual distribution of 320 electronically archived accounts.
EUROFACTOR, the leading integrated factoring network in Europe with a market share of over 21 per cent, assumes the responsibility for following up on accounts receivable for companies that choose to focus on their core business. EUROFACTOR keeps its customers updated by generating a large number of documents, such as a daily checklist of tasks that need to be performed.
EUROFACTOR processed only paper versions of these accounts up until 2002. Managing the accounts and distributing them by mail was both costly and slow.
"By significantly cutting the volume of printed editions, which are enveloped and mailed, we have realized a return on investment for the StreamServe solution of less than one year." - Ghislain Pineau, head of the Web, DTP, and Tools Program, EUROFACTOR Information Systems

ND Logistics Netherlands B.V. is part of the French Norbert Dentressangle Group, which is one of Europe's leading logistics companies. The company's goal was to efficiently manage the document presentment of millions of packing lists, labels and radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, order forms, and invoices for multinational companies every year.
As a company that must make timely, accurate deliveries, Netherlandsbased ND Logistics constantly strives to improve its logistics processes. During peak periods, all 150 employees are called upon to provide flawless logistics for multinational companies, such as Mattel Europe, a toy manufacturer.
In the past, ND Logistics didn't have the functionality to manage its multi-language business environment which many customers were dependent upon. Instead, all product-related documents - from packing lists to invoices - needed a lot of manual coding to comply with each country's languages and legal requirements. This required longer lead times in order for customers? products to reach retailers.
In addition, ND Logistics had difficulty tracking exact locations of dispatched goods and identifying the number of pallets that left its warehouse. This, in turn, meant that ND Logistics? customers never had a chance to optimize their stock levels.
ND Logistics decided to meet these challenges by adding the StreamServe Enterprise Document Presentment? (EDP) application to its existing logistics system. The implementation went smoothly; and the StreamServe Distribution? solution currently serves the entire company.
"When you think about the volume of goods that we?re responsible for, there is no question StreamServe?s functionality boosts the bottom line by providing improved controls and greater planning opportunities."
Jos Hendrix, Applications Manager, Nokavision Software (ND Logistics partner)

TMI Integrated Logistics and Road Air Logistics companies are part of the Netherlands-based TMI Group, a holding company that offers integrated logistics services. The company faced the challenge to streamline its IT environment to facilitate group-wide systems standardization, enabling the production of personalized customer documents to enhance customer loyalty.
Now, more than ever, customers expect efficient fulfilment of specific requirements. They expect suppliers to know who they are and to prove it by delivering products or services that meet customers' demands. If they don't, then customers will probably take their business elsewhere. This is especially true for logistic services providers such as the Netherlands-based TMI Integrated Logistics and Road Air Logistics companies.
Both companies are part of the TMI Group, a holding company with 1,000 employees. The TMI Group has come far in its corporate-wide efforts to streamline IT processes. For example, it implemented a standardized logistics system that significantly improves inventory and order management. Ongoing improvement of the IT environment enhances internal efficiency and improves delivery execution.
To provide even better customer service and to ensure that TMI companies have a good handle on what is going on with their operations, TMI executives concluded that their current document processes needed to be seriously upgraded to an Enterprise Document Presentment (EDP) solution.
"We found that StreamServe-enabled customer service enhancements also attract new customers. This is crucial for logistics companies such as TMI Integrated Logistics and Road Air Logistics. As a result, we plan to expand the StreamServe Distribution implementation within the TMI Group."
Kees Driessen, Managing Director TMI ICT Services
